Buck 65
A DJ cum RJ cum rap musician cum a true self taught artist. Such is how one can define Richard Terfry, better known as Buck 65.
Terfry has to his credit of being a man who loves to be amongst people all the time, in short is a socialite who adores chatting and also is known to be fond of attracting attention of its audience through his speech and dialogues.
As a rap music person, his more recent music has extensively incorporated blues, country, rock, folk and has given it a whole new style altogether.
Serving as a radio jockey for a Canada radio station, Terfry hosts a week day programme which enthralls many people who wait for the man to come again with telling about a new happening.
Born in 1972 in a rural community situated outside of Halifax. He started his career initially as rap music during the mid 1980. He had an interest in hip hop music to such an extent that he never missed a chance of listening to such songs.
Whether sneaking to places and listening to the hip hop music or be it climbing the tree in his yard and focusing on hearing the rap music from his cheap transistor radio.
His interest in music was so deep that he taught himself how to rap, and became a fine rapist by musical influences and more by self learnt endless efforts. His interest did not stop here and having a narssicitic personality he loved to remain amongst people most of the time.
Worth being the centre of attraction for his love to speak and that also to speak well, he was almost as a magician at work, mesmerizing his audiences who listened to him and he also became an encouragement for those youngsters who wishe to follow in his footsteps.
With the fame story came in a million dollar question of how he got a nickname of Buck 65. One story maintains that the name was given to him in his childhood time period as he weighed 165 pounds.
Another story reveals that the name comes from the weight of the first buck he shot or the $1.65 standard bus fare for Halifax riders.
One more reference was stated in the web site as, he was named after his uncle's 1965 Buick automobile, he performed a show under that name but the promoter mistakenly wrote the name as it is now spelled.
No matter how many stories tell a tale on his famous nick name, the fact remains that he is still known more as Buck 65 and this in return has actually been the cause of gaining fame making bucks.
Being a one man show, Buck 65 has left no stone unturned to reach to the peak of success where he is now. Many hurdles had come in his path towards his career but did not lose hope and kept going.
And finally, becoming a role model for the amateur artist who wants to make it big in the industry and never be despaired from the speed breakers coming along.
