Alexi Murdoch
Alexi Murdoch is a young and famous singer-songwriter. He has established himself as one of the leading singers of this times and gained exposure in different genres of music. Perhaps, he is one singer whose melodies can be heard in Hollywood movies and television series quite often.
Murdoch was born in London but was brought up in Scotland. He went to the U.S. to study philosophy at Duke University. He experienced the taste of all these different places that helps him to create tunes that have a wider appeal and universal feel.
Alexi Murdoch is a D.I.Y artist. He released his first EP, Four Songs in 2002. The album became a big hit from day one. It sold around 40,000 copies and became the all time No. 1 selling record on the online independent record store CD Baby.
Two tracks of the album, titled Blue Mind and Orange Sky, became instant hits. Blue Mind landed on the WB's highly rated teen drama Dawson's Creek while Orange Sky was played on FOX's teenybopper show The OC. Murdoch's released his first full-fledge album in June 6, 2006. It was titled Time Without Consequence and it peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Although the biggest labels in the industry were knocking on his door but he wasn't interested in playing by anybody else's rules, so he crafted his debut full-length over the course of 2 years.
He launched the disc on his own Zero Summer label and got distribution help from Razor & Tie. The end result was a gorgeous album that recalls the intimate songwriting of the late Nick Drake.
Orange Sky is undoubtedly the most famous song of Murdoch. Besides OC, the song was used in Fox television series Prison Break.
It was also included in a number of television and movie productions, House, Prison Break, Ugly Betty, Ladder 49, The Russell Girl, and Paradise Now.
The same song was also featured in the movie Garden State but it did not appear on the official soundtrack. The song was also shown at Season 1of Dirty Sexy Money in the episode The Chiavennasca.
Other songs of the Murdoch have also enjoyed the similar success. His song Home was featured in the Fox television series Prison Break like that of ?Orange Sky?. ?All My Days? was featured in a Season 4 episode of The OC, in Season 4 of Grey's Anatomy and in Season 6 of Without a Trace.
The song ?Home? was featured on a Season 2 episode of Prison Break. Another song ?Through the Dark? can be heard during the end credits of Gone Baby Gone.
Murdoch has also seen fame through his electrifying live concerts. He also ventured in Radio quite successfully. He performed at KCRW famed Nic Harcourt?s radio show, Morning Becomes Eclectic.
The show was dubbed as the best three hours of radio in America, with music supervisors from ad agencies and television studios tuning in daily for an original catchy sound.
Alexi Murdoch today enjoys unparallel success and fame. He is recognized globally for his work. He knows what his listeners want, thus provide them with a variety of head-nodding and foot-tapping music. His performances are one not to be missed as melody can?t get better than this.
