Two amazing acts will be sharing the stage at the upcoming The Go Go's and Patty Smyth concert. Their fame is widespread and the artists are considered legends in their own right. The Go-Go's are a rock band from Los Angeles, California who has been active since the late seventies in global music. Similarly, Patty Smyth is a renowned rocker, best known as the front woman of the iconic band, Scandal. You catch both these acts, live in concert, after purchasing The Go Go's Patty Smyth tickets.
The Go-Go's hail from Los Angeles, California and began playing music back in 1978. The pop rock and new wave band was active until 1985, after which it went on hiatus. During the nineties, the band was active for a number of concerts and tours in 1990 and 1994. In 1999, the members reunited and have been touring since then.
Today, the band members include Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Jane Wiedlin and Gina Schock. Former members of the band include legendary names in rock, including Kathy Valentine. The band is famous as the first and only all-female band, which not only played their own instruments and wrote their own songs, to have topped the Billboard charts.
The Go-Go's rose to fame during the eighties with their sophomore effort, Beauty and the Beat. This album is regarded today as a cornerstone album in new wave music and paved the way for numerous other artists. The album ranked number one on the Billboard 200, staying at that position for six straight weeks.
The band's debut album also went on to sell over three million copies and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. It is also ranked as one of the most successful debut albums of all time. Overall, The Go-Go's have sold over seven million albums worldwide.
Over the course of the nineties, the original line-up of the band, made up of Carlisle, Caffey, Valentine, Wiedlin and Schock, reunited a number of times to play a series of concerts. They also recorded music in 1990 and 1994. In 2001, they performed live with Paul Simon, Elton John, Billy Joel and David Crosby at the All-Star Tribute to Brian Wilson, a TNT hosted show at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. In 2011, the band went on a special thirtieth anniversary tour, continuing well into 2012.
The Go-Go's will be joined on stage by Patty Smyth at this gig. She is a New York born rocker who is also famous for her pop-laced, new wave infused rock music. A singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Smyth has been singing to the masses since 1981 and released music via Columbia and MCA Records. She has been associated with the likes of The Hooters and Don Henley, and was the lead singer of the band Scandal.
Patty Smyth rose to fame in 1982 as the front woman of Scandal and then went on to pursue a highly successful solo career. She is regarded today as one of the most prominent acts in new wave, with her songs having been aired on MTV since the channel's earliest days. Her songs have rose high up the charts, with a duet with Don Henley ranking in the Top 10. She also co-wrote and sang a song with James Ingram for the famous movie Junior, released in 1994. This led to her earning a Grammy Award nomination for the Best Song Written for Visual Media and an Academy Award nomination as well, for the Best Original Song.
