Founded in 1952 by Roderick McMahon and Toots Mondt, the former name of the organization was Titan Sports, and was altered to World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1963. Then in 1979 the name got changed to WWF (World Wrestling Federation), when Vincent J. McMahon became its owner. The ownership passed to his son, Vincent K. This name change occurred due to the 2000 dispute between the environmental organization, World Wide Fund for Nature, which was also abbreviated as WWF, and the World Wrestling Federation.
