It was once known as a sports convention arena. It is listed on the National Register of Historic places as the Washington Avenue Armory.

But today the place is known as a multi purpose arena. Situated in Albany, New York, the arena is said to be home to not only the Albany Patroons Basketball and the Continental Basketball Association (the headquarters situated inside the Armory) but is also home to the United States Basketball league as well.

Live performances and conventions within the Armory are held and managed with ease. The Armory has a big capacity of 4,300 seating arrangement for concerts and 3,600 for sport activities.

The Armory is positioned in the corner of Washington Avenue, downtown Albany. The Armory was built in the late 1890"s for use as an ammunition depot as the name suggests. With the passage of time, various collegiate and professional sports were played within the Armory as it the only available platform then for sports lovers.

From the time period of 1892 till 1990, the Armory became home to the Albany Patroons. After the Patroons shifted to another arena for reasons unknown, the Armory was ignored and became a target place for several other proposals.

The most well known proposal was that of the Armory becoming a home for the Albany Scientific Library. After a lot of fluctuations, the Armory was purchased by an executive person of the Albany County.

The new millennium started off with the renovation project of the Armory which then opened in September 2005. And then later that year it once again became home to the Patroons. From the year 2005 till date the Armory has been home to the Basketball and the World Team Tennis. Apart from sports, the Armory is also used for concerts.

The Armory has huge seating capacity for fans. The venue is equipped with all technical facilities. For security reasons, the Armory also consists of video screens.

The Armory website has also been developed so as to stay up dated with the happenings in the place. One of the recent up dates on the website claims to open an underground mall comprising of various stores. Food and beverages are also included in this grand plan.
