Medieval Times Nj
One step over the threshold between the Medieval Times Lyndhurst Castle, New Jersey Castle, and the rest of New Jersey, one immediately feels being vaporized (as in Star Wars) and being transported, in a split second, to the Middle Ages of the lords and ladies where chivalry and valor were the law of the land.

This is mostly thanks to the staff that does a great job of getting into character and adopting old English accents, albeit with varying degrees of success.

A ticket to the Lyndhurst Castle does not only mean a dinner out with family, you actually buy yourself citizenship in one of six Iberian Kingdoms in the form of colored flags and crowns that represent the knight you will be cheering for, and also granted a chance to meet briefly with Royalty of the Castle for a photograph.

Coming in early is a must so as to avail the chance of hanging around with your team mates and knight and booing the opposite team (which is actually highly encouraged). Additional attractions include a stroll through the Hall of Stallions, the Hall of Arms and the Knight Club.

A stop at the Hall of Stallions allows visitors an opportunity to catch a glance of the beautiful stallions of Andalusian, Arabian or Freisian breed as they are prepared for the evening"s ordeal. The guests can also inspect the armor used by the knights.

The many full suits of armor and an impressive broadsword are on display here. For guests who prefer a quick drink before a meal, there are two fully stocked bars complete with tables and chairs to relax before the show begins.

There is also a gift shop in the lobby where guests can buy souvenirs for their beloved. The dungeon also adds to the aura of the Middle Ages. The twang of the trumpet signals the commencement of the show and guest are ushered into the Grand Ceremonial Arena to be introduced to the Kingdoms' Champions and their Mounts; majestic, powerful and agile stallions of Andalusian, Arabian or Freisian breed.

The feast is a four-course meal that has been designed to suit the taste of an American majority. To complete the medieval theme, dinner is served by serfs and wenches without cutlery. Hands serve as silverware while the soup is served in bowl with a handle to complete the experience. A heart meal of chicken, ribs and a potato, a pastry dessert and a beverage complete the meal with one free refill.

The scenes and the air of the Middle Ages jousting event is successfully replicated amidst the tasty dinner. As the show begins, you'll witness exquisite equestrian drills performed by 22 beautiful Andalusian stallions. Next inline is a professional display of sword fighting by trained knights on horseback.

The clinks and clanks of swords are the indications of a jousting event. Attention is paid to the authenticity and the detail of the architecture, the interiors and the games that are held in each of these restaurants. There is a story interwoven through the show with the knights battling for a place in the heart of the princess who sits with the king, high above the proceedings.

The European-style Castle features a soaring Tower, elaborately decorated Hall of Arms, Knight Club (with DJ & dancing), extensive gift shop, Museum of Torture, two full bars and the Hall of Stallions where guests can view some of the horses as they are prepared for the evenings' shows.

The 1,100 seats, air conditioned arena features state-of-the-art sound, lighting and special effects systems for the ultimate tournament experience that further the theme replica. The Lyndhurst Castle's elegant silhouette is unmistakable against the urban skyline.

Since 1990, Medieval Times' New Jersey castle has been a popular escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby New York City. However, its not the scenic landscape rather the dinner show that is the main tourist attraction. It whisks guests further away: to 11th century Spain.

In the Lyndhurst Castle's grand ceremonial arena, weapons are flaunted and an authentic medieval jousting tournament ensues.

The Knights' dazzling displays of skill and athleticism demand the same respect as any on-field heroics as those provided in the nearby Giants Stadium. The Lyndhurst Castle is only 15 minutes from Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
