Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes is a 1970s Jersey Shore band based in New Jersey, USA. If one wants to research exactly what the sound of the genre is, then their name would be on top of the list alongside "The E Street Band" or Bruce Springsteen. Incidentally, they have performed with or written for both the artists, amongst many more who perform with a similar sound. The band's current line up consists of Southside Johnny, the lead vocalist, who also plays harmonica, Bobby Bandiera, also on vocals and guitar, Jeff Kazee on keyboard, Joe Bellia on drums, John Conte on bass, Joey Stann and Eddie Manion on saxophone, Chris Anderson on trumpet, and Neal Pawley on trombone. The band's latest endeavor was a new record which they named "Pills and Ammo". Southside became the creative head of this project, writing most of the songs in collaboration with his band mates Kazee and Lyon. The album was appreciated by music critics all around the world. More recently, however, the band has chosen to deviate from their textbook Jersey Shore sound. They are indulging in rock and acoustic music, experimenting and finding other artistic opportunities.
