Intocable is a Norteno/Tejano band from Zapata, Texas, where it was formed by friends Rene Martinez and Ricky Munoz at the start of the nineties. Within a few years as a group, they had already emerged on top of the Norteno and Tejano genres with a critically acclaimed signature musical that represented a fusion of Norteno folk rhythms and Tejano robust conjunto with pop balladry.
At present, the band may be considered to be the most impactful group in Tejano, with their strong Norteno/Tejano fusion quickly becoming the blueprint among many Tex-Mex groups. Their many characteristic qualities include tight instrumentation, romantic hooky melodies, and vocal harmony that have been consistently imitated by several other Norteno and Tejano artists such as Zinzero, Intenso, Estruendo, Solido, Costumbre, Duelo and Iman, among others. Their career achievements include four back-to-back sell-out night performances at the prestigious Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City as well as their 2003 headlining concert in Houston’s Reliant Stadium that drew a record audience of more than seventy-thousand fans. The band also appeared at two sold-out shows at the spacious Monterrey Arena located in Monterrey, Mexico. The latter marked a unique accomplishment since Norteno artists are known to generally perform at big dance halls but hardly ever in arenas. Intocable tickets have become a most sought after treat among Tejano and Norteno music fans that love the group’s fusion of various musical styles.
The current lineup of Intocable comprises of seven members with Jose Juan Hernandez as the group motivator; Felix Salinas as bassist; Daniel Sanchez on lead banjo sexton; Johnny Lee Rosas on backup vocals and bajo sexton; Sergio Serna on percussion; Rene Orlando Martinez on drums and chorus; and Ricardo Javier Munoz on lead vocals and accordion.
Intocable has gone down in the pages of music history as the first band of their genre to perform at the famous Dallas Cowboys Stadium in the halftime of the 2011 Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys game. With this performance the group won two out of five nominations by Billboard Regional Mexican Awards, getting further nominated at 2011 Latin Grammys in the category of Best Norteno Album for INTOCABLE 2011. The artists also received nominations from the Grammy Awards for the same album. This album was issued under the band’s own music label called Good I Music, through which their first couple of singles Prometi and Robarte Un Beso charted to number one spots on US regional radio. The third single titled Arrepientete also became a radio hit while yet another single Llueve received a live premiere on the Premio lo Nuestro of 2012, where the band won all three nominations. In 2005, they won their first Grammy Award on the forty-seventh Annual Grammys, in the category of Best Mexican-American/Mexican Album for their record Intimamente. They received their second Grammy on the fifty-third Annual Grammys celebration, for the album Classic.
Before attaining such success however, Intocable went through its share of rough time. Their first indie album hardly sold. Their album titled Fuego Eterno released in August 1994 got encourage-able reception with label EMI Latin. At the time they were under the influence of Ramon Ayala whose music really provided directional guidance. The group’s accordion player and lead vocalist Ricky Munoz has said that the latter has been their biggest inspiration. In 1998, the group suffered a major setback just when two of its members took off to create their own bands; bassist Albert Ramirez and bajo sexton Johnny Lee Rosas formed the band Grupo Masizzo. The latter released four solo successful albums but returned to Intocable in 2003.
Till date, their most popular sings include Amor Maldito, Suena, Dame Un Beso, Eres Mi Droga, Por Ella, Aire, and Dejame Amarte among others. Don’t miss their upcoming shows, just grab some cheap Intocable tickets and be there to experience their one of a kind music.
