G-Eazy was born as Gerald Earl Gillum in 1989 and is a native of California. He started off his journey in the music industry as a record producer who later received recognition in the East Bay Area when he joined bands like The Cataracs. In 2010, his popularity began to increase when he opened shows for big names, Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg. At the same time, G-Eazy also released his mixtapes which were met with limited success. In 2011 however, his mixtape, 'The Endless Summer' received great critical success and featured a number one song, Runaround Sue which received more than four millions views on YouTube.
First Album
In 2012, G-Eazy toured the United States and played at multiple festivals including, Vans Wraped Tour and The Excellent Adventure Tour. In the same year, he released his self-released album, 'Must Be Nice' which reached the third spot on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart. A couple of years later, he came out with his first studio album under a record label. It was titled, 'These Things Happen.' The record landed at the first spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and was certified gold in the United States.
When It's Dark Out
G-Eazy released his next studio album, 'When It's Dark Out' in 2015 which recorded platinum sales in the United States. AllMusic gave his latest effort four stars out of five whereas Pitchfork Media gave it 6.7/10. The album also featured triple platinum selling single, Me, Myself and I.
