Black Moth Super Rainbow is an experimental band belonging to Pennsylvania. The most unique thing about the band is that the members have always kept themselves as sort of an "enigma" and have never revealed their true identities. Now the band is coming to your town so if you want to attend their show make sure you have the Black Moth Super Rainbow tickets booked.
For four years, from 1996 to 2000, Tobacco, the songwriter and vocoder of the band was known as "Alleghany White Fish." Black Moth Super Rainbow was formed by the name of Allegheny White Fish when the lot was in grade ten. When he was joined by Power Pill Fist, who left the band later, they formed satanstompingcaterpillars group that stayed together from 2000 to 2002.
The name was changed from Alleghany White Fish to ssc (satanstompingcaterpillars) because the band members thought it was not a suitable one. For Tobacco, ssc was an attempt to be more "serious" and "melodious" as he calls it. After the band advanced further, they decided that they needed to make some more changes before feeling totally comfortable performing live. They experimented a lot with their music, until finally they felt that what they were doing was now actually "right."
Black Moth Super Rainbow under the ssc title brought to public their self released music. These releases included "Fuckeroo" and "Side 8." When in 2002, they released their third album named "The Most Wonderful Thing" three new members were included into the band. They were, The Seven Fields of Aphelion, Father Hummingbird and Iffernaut. It was 2003 when they finally changed the title to their current name "Black Moth Super Rainbow."
With 70's Gymnastics Recording Company the band now with the name of Black Moth Super Rainbow started to release new music. The record is band's own imprint that has a tree person wearing a dress and jumping rope. First album under the name was "Falling Through a Field" which is considered as one of the best works released by the band. In 2005, the band was chosen by the record Graveface and they released "Lost, Picking Flowers in the Woods." There were also bonus versions of their earlier two albums included. "Dandelion Gum" the third album by the band came out in 2007. Till day, the album is considered as their most critically acclaimed one, receiving positive reviews from critics and fans.
Black Moth Super Rainbow released "Drippers" in November of 2008. The album included some of the hit songs such as Happy Melted City as well as memories from the Dandelion era like One Day I Had an Extra Toe and We Are the Pagans. The album also included Just for the Night, the band's remix with Mike Watt. On their MySpace profile that same month, the band released "Drippers Bonus" for online MP3 downloading. This release included unreleased tracks such as The Dark Forest Joggers and Melting in the Meadow. It turned out to be a highly successful year for the band and they continued to tour.
Black Moth Super Rainbow released "Eating Us" in May of 2009. By the end of that year, SSC's The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed was republished by Rad Cult as well. In January of 2012, Tobacco posted on the Facebook page that the band's new album titled "Psychic Love Damage" has been recorded but discarded. According to him, he didn't find the album good enough to be released and fans' dollars to be spent upon. By July of 2012, Tobacco told the fans that the new album is now ready and will be released shortly. Along with their new album "Cobra Juicy" the bonus downloads of discarded album was also included. Currently the band is set to perform all the news songs on the live stage and to be intrigued by this mysterious band you can get Black Moth Super Rainbow tickets now.
