Aziz's Early Career
Aziz Ishmael Ansari is a Columbia-born comedian and actor who is best known for his comedy sketch, 'Human Giant' that ran on MTV. Aziz began his career in 2004, performing shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He also performed regularly on weekly live shows such as 'Invite Them Up'. His stand-up performances gained massive acclaim and in 2005 Aziz was named 'Hot Standup' in Rolling Stone's annual 'Hot List.'
Notable Works & Entry into Television
In 2006, Aziz Ansari tried his luck at HBO's US Comedy Arts Festival and won 'Best Standup' Jury Award. In the same year Aziz was seen collaborating with director Jason Woliner and comedians, Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel to create short films. The first short film released was named 'Shutterbugs' and featured Aziz and fellow comedians appearing as Goth magicians. In 2008, Aziz was taken on by NBC to play the main role of Tom Haverford in the hit sitcom, 'Parks and Recreation.'
