The State Fair features a spectacular array of attractions to fair visitors. While agriculture is the primary focus, the scope of activities has broadened. Today, the Fair also hosts large-scale entertainment acts, technological and industrial exhibits and scores of education and government institutions.

A large portion of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds is occupied by livestock barns, displaying various farm animals. Several livestock shows are held where animals and their owners take part to compete for awards.

Another primary attraction at the State Fair is the wide variety of food to be had. Food at the Fair reflects Minnesota"s agriculture; cheese curds, milk shakes, corn dogs, and FootLong Hot Dogs are popular favorites.
