There are 7,500 fixed seats at the amphitheatre out of the total seating capacity of 18,000 and the rest of the lawn section is general admission area. The venue opened for public in 1988 and was originally named Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre; given by a local non-profit organization, The Museum of Outdoor Arts. Dan Fogelberg gave the inaugural performance. The name changed to Coors Amphitheatre after a while. Until the operating rights were handed over to Live Nation, the amphitheatre enjoyed an exclusive contract with the House of Blues. The name was once again changed to Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. During this time, fans witnessed Counting Crows, John Mayer and Maroon 5 opening their 2003 tour from the amphitheatre.
In 2010, the naming rights were taken over by a new sponsor, Comfort Dental health organization. Their three-year contract ended in 2013 and now the venue is once again known as Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. Since the beginning, the venue is owned by The Museum of Outdoor Arts and the layout was originally inspired by the earth sculpture which meant that the amphitheatre was made of grass and earth. Walls and seats were installed later.
