The Cal Farley Coliseum in the Civic Center is home to the Ice hockey team of the Central Hockey League called Amarillo Gorillas. It has a seating capacity of 4,987 and can also be used for other events like concerts, trade shows, banquets etc. the auditorium has 2,324 seats and is basically a proscenium theater. It has state of the art sound system that includes an Electro Voice sound system (center cluster plus 24 microphone inputs surrounding the stage).

In addition to hosting sports events, the Amarillo Civic Center has also featured plays, ballets, and Operas including the Amarillo Opera, Lone Star Ballet, the Amarillo Symphony and the Broadway Spotlight Series. Then there is The Heritage Room which also offers a beautiful space with chandeliers, wall sconces and eye-catching wall treatments. The plus point is that it gives access to a rentable adjacent kitchen, a user office and loading dock. The capacity of this room is over 1,000 for banquet style seating and around 2,000 for theatre style seating. With 26,700 square feet of space and adjacent office, the South Exhibit Hall in the civic center is the largest exhibit area. It is well equipped with solid electrical and phone/data connections which come handy for any type of event.

Lastly, there is an interesting space called Grand Plaza which has a main floor in the shape of Texas, Lone Star accents, fountains and pretty planters as well as skylight ceiling structure. The area has a seating capacity of 824 for a large banquet and 1,100 for theatre-style. In front of the building the statue of the late space shuttle commander Rick Husband is erected who is considered one of the city's most famous sons.
