A 13 member orchestra, Pink Martini recorded their debut album ‘Sympathique’ in 1997 to critical acclaim and international success. Three of their albums have gone gold in France, Canada, Greece and Turkey. They have also been nominated for best new artist at the France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards. One of the reasons for their international success is that the lead singer China Forbes is an accomplished multilingual singer. Thomas Lauderdale and China Forbes met at Harvard both as undergraduates in 1992, where they started collaborating on different projects.
