Mannheim Steamrollers is an American musical band known for its genres of Christmas music and New Age. The band was formed by Jackson Berkey and Chip Davis. The band chose the name "Mannheim Steamroller" from Germany's musical technique from the 18th century. The name comes from the German words "Mannheimer Waize". Manheim Steamroller reminds us of Mannheim city's very first steam running cars which were replaced later by gas vehicles.

Chip Davis from Mannheim Steamrollers founded his own music label by the name "American Gramaphone" in 1974. Their first album by the name "Fresh Aire" was released in 1975, followed by "Fresh Aire II" in 1977, "Fresh Aire III" in 1979 and "Fresh Aire IV". The four albums represented the four seasons, starting from spring and ending on winter (the fourth album). Mannheim Steamrollers didn't find real success until 1984. Their great success came by the release of the holiday album under the title "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas".

Till date, Mannheim Steamrollers have released eight studio albums in "Fresh Aire" series, seven of which were Gold certified by "RIAA Certification". They have released eleven Christmas albums. They have released various other albums throughout the years, many of which have been multiple platinum sellers.
