Running successfully since November 5, 2015, the musical stars Ana Villafañe and Josh Segarra in the leading roles. The recipe of On Your Feet! may be familiar, but the flavor is certainly fresh. The jukebox musical celebrates the delightful melodies and the beautiful marriage of Gloria Estefan and her producer-musician-entrepreneur husband Emilio Estefan. Director Jerry Mitchell has rolled out Estefan's hit tracks with an energetic flair and the theatre comes alive with "Conga," "Dr. Beat," "Don't Wanna Lose You," and the blockbuster "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You". The superb choreography by Sergio Trujillo draws in the audience and keeps them hooked throughout its run. Actor-singer Ana Villafañe grabs the show with her very first scene and sets the stage on fire with her effervescence and sexiness. The book by Oscar winning screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris conveys the partnership between Gloria and Emilio - strong, fiery and inspirational.

Inspirational, Intimate & Uplifting - Meet The Estefans

The jukebox musical checks off all the usual points in the plot - humble roots, the initial hurdles, tragedy, triumph, and a fitting gratuitous dance concert. Set in a familiar music industry scenario, the musical highlights Gloria, a singer with extraordinary talent and her rise from humble origins. She faces personal and professional challenges but eventually through will and dedication emerges triumphant.

The young Gloria played by Ana Villafañe is introduced to the audience as she settles in Miami after relocating from Cuba. Her father who is fighting in Vietnam sends her encouraging messages on tape and while she listens to his words, "You're a born artist, my angel. And one day you're going to be a big star", she strums her guitar and sings improvised compositions.

Her father José returns from war with multiple sclerosis and it sets up for one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the show. Gloria confesses her love for Emilio to José, who is unable to speak and the connection between the father and daughter is stirring. Andrea Burns who plays Gloria's mother Gloria Fajardo gives a tart and vivacious performance as she opposes her daughter's ambitions and dreams. Part of it stems from envy as she wasn't allowed by her own father to pursue a career in music. Alma Cuervo steps in as Consuelo (Gloria's grandmother) and she's all supportive of her burgeoning career, extending love and warmth to her.  

Emilio is the force behind the Miami label Sound Machine and there is an instant spark between the two. Gloria impressed him by singing "Anything For You" and from there onwards things move at a faster pace - both in romance and music department. Their timeless hits are featured and the audience is treated to the scene where Emilio and Gloria try to expand their style beyond Latin music. "Congo" gets everyone grooving and the ambiance becomes joyous.
