The play is a light hearted production but at the same time it is a lesson about acceptance, individualism and breaking free. The story revolves around the struggle of factory owner Charlie Price.  Following the death of his father, he has inherited the deteriorating shoemaking family business which faces bankruptcy. In order to save the factory from closure he turns to manufacturing shoes for transvestite rather than the formal men's footwear that the factory is known for. Another major character is that of Lola, a drag queen who becomes friends with Price and helps him in restoring the business. Before long the assembly lines of the factory are producing glamorous yet sturdy footwear. But that is not the end of Charlie Price's problems.
