The Play's Story

This production borrows its plot from the Greek mythology, blending the tales of Hades, Persephone (Hades' wife), Eurydice, and Orpheus, to create a dynamic and fluid narrative. All he is armed with is his love for her and his music.

Eurydice soon realizes that she has made a big mistake. While she has entered Hadestown as per her own will, she cannot leave it without Hades permission. Meanwhile, Orpheus travels through the darkness to recue Eurydice and begs her to come back with her. He also sings of his despair, which is overheard by Hades' wife, Persephone. She is touched by his beautiful music and convinces Hades to give the lovers a chance to escape.
