Alice in Wonderland Tickets

Alice in Wonderland is a classical novel in English literature written by Lewis Carroll. This 1865 book became iconic in the fantasy and symbolism fiction genre and attracted many adaptations in television, theater and film. It is also considered as the face of the literary nonsense genre. Alice in Wonderland was first adapted into a theater musical in 1886 in London. It was written by H. Saville Clark, with music and lyrics by Walter Slaughter. A modern take on the musical is being attempted once again by Broadway. Alice in Wonderland tickets, for the 2026 season, are now on sale. Alice in Wonderful the musical, like the book is about a girl named Alice who notices a talking rabbit walking through the woods with a pocket watch and decides to follow it 'down the rabbit hole'. Here, in one of the most iconic scenes from the story, Alice is faced with several peculiar looking doors. She chooses a door too small for her to fit in, but enters by drinking a potion that shrinks her. Here, she meets a number of characters including a Mouse, the Cheshire cat, the Queen of Hearts, the Mock Turtle, Bill the Lizard, the Duchess, and the Hatter amongst others.

 
The original Broadway production was called 'Wonderland'. It starred Edward Staudenmayer as the White Rabbit, Janet Decal as Alice, Karen Mason as the Queen of Hearts, and E. Clayton Cornelius as the Caterpillar. The musical grossed nearly $10 million dollars.

 
Alice in Wonderland the musical consists of two acts. The first act is of two scenes, and the second act is in four scenes. The play opens with Alice, a writer who has just moved to New York and is experiencing what she calls the worst day of her life. In the modern twist, the scene where Alice falls asleep under a tree is converted to Alice hitting her head in an elevator and being awoken by the White Rabbit who takes her 'down the rabbit hole'. The story then progresses as other prominent characters are introduced. The famous tea party scene is extravagantly presented with the Cheshire Cat, the Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar and the Duchess. Each character presents eccentric qualities and possesses a rude disposition; a characteristic that is most eminent in this scene. This is then followed by another number by the deck of cards the Queen of Hearts is introduced. Alice does not realize the importance of the Queen and behaves rather recklessly, dancing along with the cards and saving the Cheshire Car from being executed. The first act ends with the Knave of Hearts eating tarts and passing the verdict for Alice's release during trial.

 
Famous songs from the musical include 'Down the Rabbit Hole' which is performed in the most recognizable scenes of the original story. Another one is 'Mad Tea Party' which is a number also performed during the iconic tea party scene. 'Hail the Queen' is performed for the introduction of the Queen of Hearts. 'Through the Looking Glass' is another famous song performed in the show. As is 'Off With Their Heads', a song derived from the Queen of Heart's catchphrase.
 

Critics who have reviewed the shows have applauded the visual aspect of Alice in Wonderland. The costumes, set designs and the choreography and formation in the dance numbers are extravagant and synonymous to the overriding fantasy element of the story. The musical numbers are catchy and well written; critics have noticed how they sound like pop songs, differing from the traditional Broadway musical sound. This is what has made the music of Alice in Wonderland so widely popular. The actors have been widely appreciated. Janet Dacal, who plays Alice, was named a rising star for her performance. This was amongst her first major works in the theater community and in Broadway. Other critics called her the 'perfect fit for the role', acknowledging her acting skills, dance moves and her style of comedy which was done in just the perfect amounts. 

 
The songs and music from the show were recorded and compiled into an album. The album received rave reviews, with critics commenting on how the album sounded more like a pop album than a Broadway music compilation.
