The Beginnings

Monster Jam traces its history back to the year 1992 when the USHRA, United States Hot Rod Association sanctioned a monster truck event. It was in October of 1992 that the name Monster Jam was used for the first time. Having said that, not every event sanctioned by the USHRA was promoted by the same name. Different names were given to different events for most of the 1990’s. The record books however consider them Monster Jam shows because of them being sanctioned by the USHRA and featuring monster trucks.

The Formats

Between 1995 and 1998, there was no series with points and the drivers were competing for individual championships. That would change in 1999 when the points returned only for the format to be discarded once again in the year 2004. They reverted to the points series in 2015 and that has remained the case ever since.

The Epic Monster Jam World Series

The Monster Jam World Series is the pinnacle of the sport. The event takes place every year and features the best monster trucks in the business being driven by the best drivers in the world. This wasn’t however always the case. Initially, there were no world championships for Monster Jam events. But then it got a reboot in 2000 and two World Championships titles were up for grabs. One was for racing, while the other one was for freestyle competition. Now that field has been expanded to four with High Jump and Skills World Championships being added to the lineup.

Although there are other parts of the Monster Jam as well but the two main features are side-by-side racing and freestyle competitions. In side-by-side racing, the cars race to reach the finish line first and with least penalties. Freestyle completion is more adrenaline-pumping as these huge and wild motor machines work their skills around the track in a given time.

The Monster Jam World Finals were held at the same venue, the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas from 2000 till 2018. Then the management made a change and decided to hold the event in different stadiums on rotational basis. The 2023 Monster Jam World Finals will take place in Nashville at the famous Nissan Stadium.

This however will not be the first World Finals to take place outside the Sin City. That honor goes to Monster Jam World Finals 21 which took place on May 21-22, 2022 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

The Unique Pit Party

One of the things that fans enjoy most during Monster Jam shows is the "Pit Party" where fans get to meet all the competitors of the event and are allowed to take autographs. Apart from the Pit Party there are other activities and contests where fans can have photographs with the champions. They also get to ride the monster trucks and take part in other exciting and fun filled activities which end with "Monster Jam Parade" which is a spectacle in itself.
