Music Career

Tyler Childers released his first LP titled Bottles & Bibles in 2011. The collection as in his own words “talks a lot about drinking, and a lot about God.” The disc was self-released by the singer when he was only nineteen years old. It reflected a great deal of determination and maturity on the part of the musician. Packed with memorable melodies, the most popular song on the collection was The Harvest.

Bottles and Bibles was followed by Childers’ breakthrough record Purgatory in 2017. Produced by David Ferguson and Sturgill Simpson, it not only garnered immense critical acclaim but also won the singer an Americana Music Association Award in the ‘Best Emerging Artist’ category in 2018.

Given the success of his second album, Childers retained the production partnership of Simpson and Ferguson for his third album titled Country Squire. Recorded in Nashville, the collection is primarily a country album with elements of bluegrass and folk. Tyler has made an effort to carry past traditions forward in a way that keeps country music relevant in the modern age. The lyrics have stories which touch upon familiar subjects of home, life and upbringing. However the context of the words is contemporary in nature.

Country Squire debuted atop the Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart as well as the American/Folk Albums chart. It is his first number one hit on both the countdowns. Released in August 2019, the album had sold 49,000 copies in the US towards the end of the year.

2020 Shows

Tyler Childers’s Country Squire Residency at the historic Ryman Auditorium will take place in February 2020. The four special shows will feature three special guests; the first two shows will have TBA while the third and fourth will feature Larry Cordle and Daughter of Swords respectively. After the residency, fans can catch Childers on the much anticipated A Good Look’n Tour by Sturgill Simpson. The outing is in support of Simpson’s critically acclaimed album Sound & Fury. Childers will be supporting Simpson on this tour.
