Born in 1990 as Abel Tesfaye, the artist initially grew up listening to various music genres including post-punk, indie rock, funk, hip hop, quit storm and soul. In 2010, Abel collaborated with producer Jeremy Rose to work on a dark R&B musical project title 'The Weekend'. It was extremely well received internationally, breaking charts in UK, Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherland, Denmark, Canada and Belgium.
