Poco Tickets

Poco is an American country rock band formed by former members of Buffalo Springfield after the band broke up. It is today regarded as the pioneer of the country rock music genre and thus the very best in it, with its live performances a must see through the use of Poco tickets. It originates from Los Angeles and has been active since 1968, with the lineup changing a number of times. It has also released music through a number of record labels including Epic Records and MCA Records. It has collaborated and performed with a number of other bands and artists including the Eagles, Loggins and Messina, Great Plains, Sky Kings and the Southern-Hillman-Furray Band. Its current lineup has Rusty Young playing a number of instruments such as the steel guitar, mandolin, banjo and on vocals, Jack Sundrud as the bassist, Michael Webb as the keyboardist and George Lawrence as the drummer.

Formed by members of Buffalo Springfield, Poco has its origins during the time when the band members were recording the third Buffalo Springfield album, Last Time Around. Each of these artists also recorded a number of solo songs, particularly Richie Furay who would then go on to form Poco alongside guitarist Rusty Young and bassist Jim Messina, the two artists who had helped him record his solo songs. New members were soon added and the group ready to perform with bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner and drummer and vocalist George Grantham. They were then signed onto Epic Records though initially a part of Atlantic Records.

In 1969, Poco released its first album titled as Pickin' Up the Pieces, regarded today as one of the greatest albums in country rock music. It was reviewed by the Rolling Stone magazine and awarded five stars. It also charted on the Billboard album chart and soon after, Randy Meisner left to band to form the Eagles and was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit as the new bassist. In 1970, a self-titled album was released and followed by Deliverin' which ranked in the top twenty of the Billboard 200 charts. In 1971, the album From the Inside was released and in 1972, the album A Good Feelin' to Know was released. In 1974, two albums were released by the band; Cantamos and Seven. The group was then signed onto ABC-Dunhill Records through which the album Head Over Heels was released, featuring the hit single Keep On Tryin. They then went on to perform the song Heart of the Night for the live compilation album, No Nukes, which featured songs from artists such as Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen.

During the early eighties, Poco never lost momentum and released a string of successful album; 1980's Under the Gun, 1981's Blue And Gray, 1982's Cowboys & Englishmen and Ghostown and 1984's Inamorata. One of the band's songs, I'll Leave it Up to You, was part of the soundtrack of the movie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. In 1989, Poco released the album Legacy through RCA Records with all the band's original members reuniting after over twenty years. It was a very successful album that spawned hit singles such as Call It Love and Nothing to Hide with the album itself certified gold. After the nineties spent performing live and in hiatus, the group returned and released Running Horse in 2002. It was followed by a massively successful show with Poco tickets sold out in Colorado and resulting the released of the 2004 album, Keeping the Legend Alive followed by 2005's Bareback at Big Sky and The Wildwood Sessions in 2006.

With a new album soon to be released, Poco, the king of country rock music, is a band to enjoy live with cheap Poco tickets as the pioneer of the country rock music genre and as the band formed by former Buffalo Springfield members.

Buffalo Springfield was a music band that gave birth to a long standing legacy of rock music called Poco. Poco's sound has echoed trough four decades and has spawned each one with varied touch and feel. Poco has widely relied on the predominant vibes and music of the decade to lead them and craft music that caters to the taste of fans. Their most successful form has been that of the 1970's where their music was evocative and rusty. Smooth vocals teamed with sounds of bouncy organ and sweeping pedal-steel guitarcameo carried undertones of music from bands like Crosby, Stills and Nash. This music became a permanent feature of Poco's music. In the eighties, the pop influx restrained Poco to absorb non familiar sounds. Hence Poco was more of a undemanding rock band that turned into a progressive alternative inclined rock act of the nineties.

The story of Poco began when former Buffalo Springfield disbanded in 1968. Sidemen  Jim Messina and Richie Furay invited Rusty Young on pedal-steel guitar/dobro formed the band Poco. Originally called Pogo, Poco was a name change that became a good luck charm and proved worthwhile in the band's long running career.  Steve Miller Band became Poco's first affiliate and they performed together on numerous occasions, consequently Columbia Records signed Poco in 1969. Pickin' Up the Pieces (1969) and Poco (1970) were initiations that lead Poco into mainstream music. The debut effort received some critical acclaim but but was rather unrewarding commercially. In 1970 The Rolling Stone Record Guide gave Pickin' Up the Pieces five stars for the substance it entailed.

Struggling for a favorable line-up, Poco landed with ther biggest commercial success Crazy Eyes in 1973. Randy Messina and Randy Meisner and Richie Furay left Poco around this festive time; leaving Rusty Young as the founding member that later took the band through the flourishing seventies and difficult eighties. It ws not until 1989 that the reunion of  Poco's original line-up happened and another sensational album Legacy was released. Original drummer George Grantham was replaces in the seventies and early eighties by Steve Chapman and George Lawrence replaced Grantham in 2004. Today Poco comprises of Richie Furay on guitars/vocals, Jim Messina on guitars/bass/vocals, Rusty Young on the pedal-steel guitar/dobro, Randy Meisner on the bass/ vocals and George Lawrence on the drums/vocals.

Poco's protfolio is a loaded collection of music styles ranging from the festive psychedelic folk rock of the sixties to the hard kicking rock of the seventies that transcended towards country and then electric pop. Poco's first two albums along with the third Deliverin  (1970) carried joyous tinges that became more punching when guitarist/songwriter Paul Cotton joined the bandwagon. He was able to make way to commercial success with intitiating efforts From The Inside (1971) and A Good Feelin' To Know (1972); which allowed Poco's sound to sink in with great outreach. Finally when Crazy Eyes (1973) came out. Poco was a phenomenal hit of the time. The move to ABC-Dunhill Records brought in the effort Head Over Heels featuring single Keep On Tryin, skyrocketed all charts of  hits become the most successful single of the band. Until the release of the groundbreaking album Legend (1978) the band brought compilations and live albums for fans to enjoy. However, hard rocking track lined with outmost zest made Poco the most promising rock band of the eighties.

The eighties came and Poco was all set to start anew with a strict hard rock to identify with. In this effort the band worked on five more albums namely Under The Gun (1980), Blue And Gray (1981), Cowboys & Englishmen (1982), Ghost Town (1982) and Inamorata (1984). These albums were created under two different labels MCA and Atlantic records. For some reason the imprints left by Poco's Legend overshadowed the success of all its successors. Another Legacy in 1989 was released and became a hit album featuring the stupendous hit Call it love. Very original as per Poco's signature country rock style the sound of this music brought the band back into limelight.  However, this too was short lived as Poco became unsuccessful commercially and went on hiatus. Keeping the Legend Alive, The Last Roundup and Bareback at Big Sky was a recollection Poco's live side that was compiled as  concert DVD is also available. This effort helped revive Poco in the new millennium. Pocotickets invite all Poco fans to indulge in their most reminiscent music. From the wonderful sixties to the magnificent seventies and provocative eighties Pocotickets offers everyone a night to remember.
