Born on the 7^th of August 1925, Arthur Egnoian is one of America’s greatest Disc Jockey, songwriter, record producer and radio personalities of all time. Art began his career by starting a radio show from the Scrivner’s Drive In, where teenagers would come and make live on-air song dedications. With his live radio show going well and a growing audience for it, he came up with an idea for an album. The album became the first one in the history of America to feature hit songs from various different artists. This fantastic compilation album was called, Oldies but Goodies. This series has ever since expanded further to around 15 volumes. The title of the album was a well known trademark of Art Laboe, since he himself was regarded as the first person to coin the term.

He has been in the West Coast music scene for more than decades since his broadcast of the Scrivners’ Drive In show at the KPOP station in Los Angeles. Appreciations for Art Laboe’ contributions in the West Coast music scene grew to such an extent, that in the year 1981, the city of Los Angeles declared 17^th of July as Art Laboe Day as well as a Golden Palm Star at Palm Springs, California 2003. He even has a star in his honor on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as a memorabilia at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum’s interactive Rock and Radio exhibit in the city of Cleveland, Ohio.

Art Laboe still continues to make valuable contributions to the music scene. He works as a promoter, MC and Internet Disc Jockey. His Sunday night shows called Killer Oldies can be heard in cities all across the West Coast. His dedication show on Sunday evenings has been consistently earning top rating for the past several years.

Recently he was given the honorable Diamond Circle Award by the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters. This award reflects his important contribution in the development of broadcasting. These huge accolades were due to his outstanding contributions such as his assistance to George Lucas in licensing top hit Rock and Roll tracks for the film, American Graffiti. This made the film as one of the first ones to do so.

Art Laboe’s music company was called the OSE, short for Original Sound Entertainment. Apart from assistance to George Lucas, Art Laboe’s company represented songs by many famous artists, the likes of which include The Beach Boys, Ritchie Valens, The Everly Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Stylistics, The Isley Brothers, Brenton Wood, Little Richard, Carl Perkin and the legendary Johnny Cash as well as many others.
