If music be the food for the soul then it is time to enjoy the very best of it. All you have to do is buy Andras Schiff tickets to catch the maestro live as he mesmerizes you with his brilliant talent. Andras Schiff was born on the 21st of December, 1953, in Budapest. He is a Hungarian pianist and conductor. He grew up as an only child in a family with strong music roots. His father worked as a gynecologist and made music in his spare time. His mother wanted to be a concert pianist, a project that never materialized due to the Second World War.
Andras began playing the piano at age five. By the time he was eleven, he was well trained in the art. He first learned from Elizabeth Vadász. He was class fellows with Zoltan Kocsis and Dezo Ranki while studying for fourteen years at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. Some of his other mates were Ferenc Rados, Pal Kadosa and Gyorgy Kurtag. He usually spent his summer vacations with relatives in England. There he became friends with the forty-year-old conductor and harpsichordist George Malcolm (1917-1997). Without taking any formal lessons from the skilled musician, Andras was able to play music along him with immense confidence. However, he is quoted to have credited his entire understanding of Bach to Malcolm.
Schiff has performed internationally, both as a soloist as well as along renowned orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. Since 1999, he has been the founder and conductor of the chamber orchestra, Cappella Andrea Barca. From 1989 to 1998 Schiff performed at the Mondsee festival which is held near Salzburg. Together with Heinz Holliger, he founded the Ittinger Pfingstkonzerte in the Charterhouse, in 1995. In 2000 Schiff participated in the Schubertiade festival in Feldkirch. During his time in the city, he also availed the opportunity to protest against the participation of the Rightist Freedom Party in the Austrian government.
Schiff is married to the violinist Yuuko Shiokawa. He lives in London and Florence. He is widely regarded as a subtle interpreter of the music of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Especially important to him is to take care of the piano oeuvre of his compatriot Béla Bartók. In addition, he devotes himself to the work of Johann Sebastian Bach, who for him is the "Alpha and Omega of music." He does not follow the conventions; rather he usually plays Bach along modern lines and design. Nevertheless, he believes that the study of historical knowledge which includes ornaments, articulation and phrasing is inextricably linked to the interpretation of music. At the same time, he waives any pianistic self-representation, so that his interpretations hs an introverted and intimate expression.
Schiff began in 1994 as a soloist at Beethoven's Piano Concerto in G major, under the direction of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He collaborated with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in "The Way of Love and Death of Cornet Christoph Rike" at the Whitsun Concerts Ittinger in 2003. And now if you are one of the few lucky ones who have managed to buy Andras Schiff tickets, you too can hear all his greatest hits.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to get to hear the great tunes of renowned names as Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, as Schiff has recorded all their sonatas. At the same time he has also covered the piano concertos of Beethoven, Schubert and Mozart as well as the major solo piano works of JS Bach. He has also collaborated with Peter Schreier and Robert Holl on covering the songs of Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms and Schumann respectively. He also played along with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in 1991 and 1992 at the successful 'The Beautiful Miller' DVD recording. So do not let this amazing opportunity pass by and buy the Andras Schiff tickets before they sell out.
