Adema
Adema is a 5-member nu metal band from Bakersfield, California who got their name from the medical term edema, a kind of tissue swelling. Adema was signed by L.A. Reid, who is better known for signing R&B artists.

The band then sequestered themselves in a cabin and wrote the material for their self-titled debut album. They release Adema in 2001, featuring Mark Chavez as the lead vocalist, Tim Fluckey and Mike Ransom on guitar, Dave DeRoo' on bass, and Kris Kohls on Drums.

The bands debut album met moderate success and spawned two major singles, Giving In and The Way You Like It. The tracks received significant airplay on rock radio.

Adema was certified Gold, and the band received a spot on the main stage during the Ozzfest tour. The following year, Adema released their EP, Insomniac's Dream, as a gift to fans.

The album included a track from international versions of Adema, a tribute to Alice in Chains and four remixes of songs from Adema.

A track Immortal was written for the video game Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. The band kept playing live with the Music as a Weapon, SnoCore Rock, and Projekt Revolution tours. Adema has vigorously fought the label nu metal, preferring to be classified as traditional rock.

In 2003, they released their second album entitled Unstable. While Howard Benson-produced-Unstable was not a significant break from their earlier sound, Chavez compared it to the rawness of Nirvana. The album was named Unstable for Chavez and guitarist Ransom were sharing a bitter rivalry.

Unstable sold over 66% less than the band's debut album. In December, Adena learned that Arista was dropping them during a label merger. The group continued to write, but in February 2004, Chavez started to lose interest and quit the band in September.

The remaining three members reunited to write new music and auditioned new singers. After Kohls heard a demo from Rewind Yesterday, he was impressed by the group's lead singer, Luke Caraccioli and asked him to front the band. Meanwhile, Adema signed to metal label Earache Records in Spring 2004.

Under Earache Records Label, Adema gained more control over their direction and lauded the company for allowing bands to express themselves creatively. A year later in April 2005, the band would deliver their next album, Planets.

Musically, the album was a significant break from Adema's two earlier albums. Nick Forcillo-produced-Planets was much closer to rock than Adema's nu metal history. The album released its first single, Tornado, that March, while writing for the album was shared between the four members.

In September, the group released a second single which was featured in the movie thriller Cry Wolf. In October 2005, Luke Caraccioli left Adema, citing personal problems. Following his departure, the band got in touch with Chavez; both parties were back on good terms.

In March 2006, the band announced a new vocalist, Bobby Reeves a former member of the band LEVEL. Later that year, they recruited guitarist Ed Faris from the same band.

With their new lineup, Adema signed onto Immortal Records in February 2007. Immortal Records issued Kill the Headlights in August 2007. Recently, according to Myspace page, Ademas new music will be coming in 2009.
