Washburn is the beautiful city of the State of North Dakota. North Dakota is ranked 19th in terms of land area among the other states of the United States of America. The land area where the city is today has been inhabited by people for a long time due to the abundance of wildlife and the river. When the Lewis and Clark Expedition came to the area, the area was already inhabited by Indian tribe of Mandan in 1804. Much of the activities of the expedition were restricted to the Fort Mandan, which stands to date as an important historical site. After Lewis left, Joseph Henry Taylor was one of the first Whites to settle in the area in 1869. The city came into existence officially in 1882. For a long time, Washburn has been one of the stops for tourists and adventurists rowing down the Missouri River. Now it has become an important tourist destination itself.
