Details of Fort Yates and the Ticket Luck value
The city of Fort Yates is located in the county of Sioux in the State of North Dakota. It is the county seat of the county of Sioux apart from being the city where the Standing Rock Sioux tribe is headquartered. The city of Fort Yates is spread across 0.1 Square Miles of land and boasts Sitting Bull College that is located within the city. The history of the city dates all the way back to 1863, when Standing Rock Cantonment was established within the city premises to keep an eye on Inhunktonwan, Cutheads, Hunkpapa and Blackfeet bands.
The city was named Fort Yates, in 1878, following the death of Captain George Yates in the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876. In 1903, the U.S Army post and the defensive fort was put out of commission after which Fort Yates turned into a proper city rather than just being an Army outpost. Fort Yates is also known for being the burial site of the great American Indian leader Sitting Bull, after whom, the Sitting Bull College is named. Rumor has it that the remains of Bull's body were removed from the city and buried again at a graveyard near Mobridge, however, the historical maker of the gravesite is still present within the city.
