The City of Anderson is located in the northwest corner of the state of South Carolina on the Piedmont Plateau. The city had got its name after General Robert Anderson, who was a Revolutionary War hero. Although he was born in August County, he had come to South Carolina to help his good friend, Andrew Pickens.

The city was founded in the year of 1826, and it was incorporated by an act of Legislature in the year of 1833. Anderson has an edge over the other cities of south, being first city in the have a supply of electric power, without any restriction. The first ever cotton gin, to be operated by electricity was also provided to this city.

The city of Anderson has a very significant value in the overall economy of the area. It is located on the busy Interstate 85 corridor, at approximately 127 miles north to Atlanta, and 132 miles south of Charlotte.

The geographical boundaries of the city have been spread over 14 square miles, and the city is located in the center of the county. The highway I-85 corridor, from Atlanta to Charlotte is now known as one of the greatest growing areas of the entire United States.
