The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein or simply Young Frankenstein is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book shared by Brooks and Thomas Meehan. The 1974 film Young Frankenstein also became the creative ground for this theatrical production. The musical is a hard hitting parody of the adaptation of classic Frankenstein (1931) and its sequel, Son of Frankenstein (1939).
