In classical music, Baroque music era is one of the most studied and performed styles of music. Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Henry Purcell, and George Frideric Handel are among the luminaries of the Baroque era music. Hailing from Venice, Antonio Vivaldi is considered to be one of the greatest Baroque era composers who enjoyed widespread influence throughout Europe. He is known for several of his instrumental concertos, especially for his violin concertos called The Four Seasons. Today, he is one of the most popular and recorded Baroque composers who has also influenced the likes of J. S. Bach. This coming season, Seattle Symphony will be performing one of his popular sacred works called Gloria. Just like most of Vivaldi's works, Gloria also went through years of obscurity until it became popular later in 20th century.

The Baroque & Wine Series will have its performances staged on May 15 and May 16, 2015. The series will conclude Seattle Symphony's 2014-15 season with four of the biggest Baroque era classics. The musical pieces will be conducted by Stephen Layton, and will feature Amanda Forsythe as soprano, Deanne Meek on Alto and David Gordon playing the trumpet along with Seattle Symphony and Chorale. Experience these magical pieces of work accompanied with wine tastings at Samuel & Althea Stroum Grand Lobby with Baroque & Wine Series: Handel & Vivaldi tickets.
