The ultimate extreme of action packed entertainment, the ‘big daddy’ of martial arts competitions, UFC Fight Night 24 offers the fans thrill they had been longing for!

Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Fight Night 24 is an upcoming event that will be held at Key Arena, Seattle, Washington. It will feature USA’s Tito Otiz fighting with Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Ultimate Fighting Championship, or more commonly known as UFC, is mixed martial arts event where fighters specializing in different fields of martial arts compete with each other, and in a way present the analysis about the most effective of all martial arts. Events and fighters are categorized into seven weight categories, and all games are played under Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. The championship is organized by Zuffa LLC which is run by Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, and President of UFC is currently Dana White.

The championship started in 1993 at Denver, Colorado and took its inspiration from ancient Olympics competition of Pankration, that was held in about 648  BC.  The theme of championship is to determine which form of martial arts is the most effective, and for this purpose fighters specializing in different forms of martial arts participate in it, including wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing etc. The championship also faced many controversies in its journey through time, and was once labeled as ‘Human Cockfighting’ by American Senator John McCain, after which strict rules and reforms were implemented thus ensuring its acceptability in public as well as critics.

Idea for a tournament showcasing different forms of martial arts was incepted in 1991 when a businessman Art Davie became student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pioneer Rorion Gracie at Torrance, California where he was operating a Jiu-Jitsu school. Gracie and his family were renowned to hold Vale Tudo competitions in Brazil, a preliminary form of mixed martial arts. The Gracies were also featured in a video game series called Gracies in Action, in which the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu character used to fight opponents specializing in other forms of martial arts. Davie gave the idea of a tournament where fighters belong to different style of martial arts, and titled it as War of the Worlds. He also worked to realize this idea and managed to gather 28 investors to fund for WOW Entertainment – a company that was planned to materialize such an event. After initial troubles and hardships, first event of this series was held in 1993 with support of Semaphone Entertainment Group (SEG) that came out to be a huge commercial success, and encouraged the investors to arrange for further such events. The first championship was marketed as a Pay-Per-View show, and was successful in bringing 86,592 subscribers. It featured fighters like savate fighter Gerard Gordeau, Kickboxers Kevin Rosier and Patrick Smith, Shootfighter Ken Shamrock, Boxer Art Jimmerson, Sumo wrestler Teila Tuli, karate expert Zane Frazier and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt Royce Gracie who was younger brother of Rorion Gracie. The championship was won by Royce Gracie.

Initial championships had little or no rules, a fact that later made this championship a violent show of action and martial arts. It did not even have weight categories as the organizers believed that correct technique of martial arts can be used to overcome variation in opponents’ weight and height. In the later years, addition of further talented and popular fighters took place in the championship, and there was a good commercial benefit derived from increasing popularity of UFC. Towards the end of 1990’s, the game was considered very violent, and television shows featuring UFC were supposed to advise viewer discretion before broadcasting a UFC event. This led to a great controversy, and in year 2000 unified mixed martial arts rule were formulated and implemented. Afterwards, the game gained further popularity owing to the fact that unacceptable and objectionable features and actions were prohibited by the management.

UFC Fight Night is the event that was included in Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2005, and has been very popular ever since. UFC Fight Night 24 Tickets provide the fans an opportunity to feel the real sense of fighting and endurance that is the theme of mixed martial arts.
