Brutal Truth
Brutal Truth are an American deathgrind band from New York City, formed in 1990 in New York City. Originally signed to Earache Records, the band Brutal Truth was formed by ex-Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, and Stormtroopers Of Death bassist Dan Lilker in 1990.

In 2001, the Guinness Book of Records awarded the band the record for Shortest Music Video for their video Collateral Damage. The video is 2.18 seconds long and consists of 48 still images in rapid succession followed by a clip of an explosion. Brutal Truth disbanded in 1999, but have recently reformed and are working on a new album.

Soon after signing to Earache Records, Brutal Truth released their two albums: their debut Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses, and Need to Control on the same labels. Earache Records also issued their EP entitled Perpetual Conversion, and a 7 single for the song Godplayer.

The bands full-length debut album was Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses. Their next album Need to Control was released on CD, cassette, and LP.

Other music videos made for the songs were Ill Neglect, Collatoral Damage, and Godplayer. However, the band soon found frustration with Earache Records, and ended up switching to Relapse Records.

Known for its roster of grindcore acts, Relapse Records is the company with whom Brutal Truth stayed until their demise. On Relapse Records, the band released the mini album called Kill Trend Suicide, a full length release entitled Sounds of the Animal Kingdom, and a double CD live album named Goodbye Cruel World. In addition, the American deathgrind band has also released many split 7 singles on smaller labels.

Brutal Truth came up with their final studio album Sounds of the Animal Kingdom. For this album, the band decided to entirely change their genre to a mish-mash of Grindcore, Crust punk, Experimental rock and still adding in elements of certain other genres.

In 2004, Kevin Sharp issued an album with Venomous Concept, a hardcore punk band featuring members from The Melvins and Napalm Death. Dan Lilker started playing for a host of bands and is currently bassist for the re-united Nuclear Assault.

As of late 2006, Brutal Truth had reformed with three-quarters of the final lineup returning (Lilker, Hoak and Sharp); Jody Roberts (of the band Salt This Earth) was apparently replacing Brent McCarty on guitar. The Band with this line-up played a handful of dates in the US.

Also released the same year was a remastered version that included the 1996 mini-album Kill Trend Suicide. By this time, Brutal Truth had announced tour dates for the UK and Japan beginning in early 2007.

In the mid of 2008, the band came up with the first new material from their entire music career in almost ten years. There were four new Brutal Truth tracks issued on the This Comp Kills Fascists compilation.

Kill Trend Suicide was the fifth release by them. The album was technically labeled as a 'mini-album' due to it being longer than an EP but not as long as a standard album.

The release of This Comp Kills Fascists showed quite a large shift from the Deathgrind sound that Brutal Truth had previously been stuck to, by incorporating elements of crust punk, rock, and experimenting a lot. At present, drummer Richard Hoak provides vocals and drums for a new project titled Total Fucking Destruction.
