The original Blues Brothers is an American group that was established back in 1978. Hailing from the city of New York, the band was formed as part of a comedic sketch for NBC's Saturday Night Live. In the original group the two members, Dan and Jon took on the roles of Joilet Jake, the lead vocalist and Elwood Blues, the harmonica player and occasional vocalist. After making appearances on the comedic television show, the band's members decided to pursue a professional career in the music industry in 1978.

Signing on with Atlantic Records, the band released its debut album named "Briefcase Full of Blues" that was charted on the number one spot of the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Their sophomore release of 1980, "The Blues Brothers: Music from the Soundtrack" was also able to make its way to the chart, landing on the thirteenth spot.

Over the years, the Blue Brothers have produced fourteen albums with five singles that have been charted on the US Billboard 100. The group has played actively from 1976 to 1982, after which the members were seen going on hiatus for six years. John and Dan then revived the band in 1988 and are currently known to perform regularly at the House of Blues and various casinos all across North America. The current lineup that performs includes Elwood J. Blues, Zee Blues, Steve Cropper, Lou Marini, Jonny Rosch and Eddie Floyd.

Catania also appeared in several feature films and his charismatic style attracted producers of the Classic Blues Brothers Stage Show to approach him. Working on the show with Kieron Lafferty, Judy Belushi and Anne Beatts, Catania has been able to make a mark.

In the group, the Official Blues Brother Revue, Catania takes on the stage alongside co-member Kieron Lafferty; a talented musician, writer and actor from Toronto, Canada. Gaining success from his studio releases, "Boomtown" and "Seven Sisters", Lafferty has established a name in his land of origin. Apart from producing his own material, Lafferty has also composed scores for television shows and feature films. After the success of his studio releases, Lafferty was approached for the "Legends in Concert" showcase where he performed as Elwood Blues.
