Stone Temple Pilots
Stone Temple Pilots STP is an American rock band comprises Scott Weiland (vocal), Dean DeLeo (guitar), brothers Robert (bass guitar, vocal), and Eric Kretz (drums, percussion). The band was formed in 1987, dispersed in 2003 and reunited in 2008. Their music is a blending of modern alternative rock and hard rock of the 1970s.

In 1994, the band succeeded to win Grammy Award for 'Best Hard Rock Performance' for their song 'Plush'. In 2003, the band produced the greatest hits collection 'Thank You'. But unfortunately around this time, band members began to separate their ways. Weiland became the front-liner of 'Velvet Revolver, the DeLeo brothers formed the band "Army of Anyone". Kretz established Bomb Shelter Studios in Los Angeles. But in January 2008, the band organized a mini concert, held a conference later and announced to reunite on a large tour of the United States.

Formation: 1989-1991
Scott Weiland met Robert DeLeo. They teamed up and formed a band, calling it Mighty Joe Young. Robert DeLeo's brother, Dean DeLeo, joined the band as guitarist. Realizing the band's potential, Eric Kretz decided to associate himself to play the drum. Later they were informed that there was a man claiming the name Mighty Joe Young. They changed the name to Shirley Temple's Pussy and performed in various shows under this name. However, they changed the name again to Stone Temple Pilots, STP, in 1992 and continued performing with the same name to the date.

Core: 1992-1993
In 1992, STP signed a contract with Atlantic Records. They produced their first album, Core, in September 1992. The album produced several big hits including 'Plush', 'Creep' and 'Sex Type Thing'.

Stone Temple Pilots continued bringing their music to the people and gathered a large number of fans subsequently. 1993 proved to be the best year during their music career which brought them continued success on the road. They did two large scale shows in New York's Roseland Ballroom. The show went on in the honor of STP's childhood heroes. STPs were featured in full Kiss Make-up. On March 1, 1994, Stone Temple Pilots took away its first Grammy Award for best Hard Rock Performance.

Purple: 1994-1995
Having done a successful series of tour in USA, Stone Temple Pilots began working on their second album- Purple. It was released in 1994 and was ranked as number one in the United States in the same year. Interstate Love Song, Vasoline, Big Empty were amongst the hits of this album which brought them across-the-board recognition.

1995 wasn't a good year for the band. Scot Weiland was arrested for possession of drugs in California. This led to the members of the band to go their separate ways.

Other Albums: (1996-2007)
Stone Temple Pilots hit the market with their third music album named 'Tiny Music'. However, Weiland's drug addiction put the band into trouble again. The band's tolerance seemed to fizzle out. After the release of Weiland from jail, the band reunited and released their fourth album in 1999. Following previous hits, the album proved to be another hit in the market again. Even though they couldn't make it to be in the good books of music critics yet their fans were still showing their loyalty with the band.

In the year 2001, the band released their fifth album, Shangri-La Dee Da. 'Days of the Week' and 'Hollywood Bitch' were two modest rock hits. In the year 2003 the members of STP separated their ways again. The DeLeo brothers formed another band named, Army of Anyone, and released their debut album in 2006.

Reunion: 2008-present
In January, 2008, Stone Temple Pilots arranged mini concert followed by a press conference and announced their large US tour that will last for 6 months. Also on a Miami Herald blog posted that Scott Weiland made it known publicly during a press conference that 'the public should be on the lookout for an STP reunion in the coming months'.
