Based in Argentina, Soda Stereo is undoubtedly one of the most important pop/rock bands in the world. They dominated the '80s and early '90s with their music. The group discovered incredible fame in the Latin markets and became the first Spanish-language group to tour Latin America. They have now reunited for a special tour. So, are you excited to watch them return to the road?
Returning to the Road
On December 19, 2019, it was revealed that Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti of Soda Stereo will be going on tour to celebrate the band's iconic history with the fans. This trek will be presented by Move Concerts and Loud and Live. This tour will also have Bosio and Alberti pay homage to the band's lead singer-songwriter Gustavo Cerati who passed away due to massive stroke on September 04, 2014. The duo also revealed that this special tour will feature a number of guest artists. They are expected to perform some of their biggest hits like Tratame Suavemente, Persiana Americana and De Musica Ligera.
In an official statement about the tour, Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti said, "In life, there are moments to laugh, to cry, to get excited. To show gratitude with love and respect. We want to celebrate these songs. Friends from everywhere will accompany us." The band also stated that this will be their final tour.
Making History
After parting ways in 1997, Soda Stereo announced to return on the road for one special tour, "Me Veras Volver." On September 20, 2007, they did a press conference and also performed two songs, En La Ciudad de La Furia and Sobredosis de TV. Initially, the band planned to perform just two shows at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. However, the tickets to both of those shows sold out in just 24 hours.
Soda Stereo then added one more date but the tickets to that show too sold out in a few hours. This led to them introducing three more Buenos Aires shows. The group kicked off their tour on October 19, 2007. Their concert was attended by over 300,000 people. They also became the first group to perform more than five shows at the Estadio Monumental in Argentina in a single tour. This tour also helped them established three records for the highest attendance at a paid concert in Venezuela (55,000), Colombia (52,000) and Panama (22,000).
