Getting into Rap Music
Influenced by mainstream stars like Meek Mill, Chief Keef, Future and Gucci Mane, Roddy Ricch became interested in hip-hop during his early years. At the age of 8, he began polishing his rapping skills and soon started make his own beats. Ricch then began to record songs in his bedroom before his first mixtape, 'Feed Tha Streets' arrived in stores on November 22, 2017. This effort was packed with bangers and contained up-tempo songs like Quality, Blue Streak, Ricch Vibes and Free Game. It gained everyone's attention including some of the established rappers who praised the record including, DJ Mustard, Nipsey Hussle and 03 Greedo.
After the success of his first mixtape, Roddy Ricch began working on his next mixtape, 'Feed Tha Streets II' which is the sequel to his first effort. Released in 2018, it helped him bring some traction in the United States as it marked his first record to debut on the Billboard 200. It featured the single, Die Young which Ricch wrote the night XXXTentacion died. The song became a smash hit, bringing him more popularity. It was certified platinum by the RIAA and went on to garner over 120 million streams on Spotify. In addition, the music video of this track went on to receive over 80 million hits on YouTube. The mixtape also produced another single, Every Season which too was certified platinum.
Debut Album
In 2019, Roddy Ricch got signed to Meek Mill's record label, Dream Chasers Records and issued his first studio album, 'Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial' on December 6. The record gave him a huge push towards stardom and helped him develop a strong following. It became his first effort to debut atop the Billboard 200 and featured guest appearances from Lil Durk, Gunna, Mustard and Ty Dolla Sign. In the same year, he featured on the tracks, Racks in the Middle by Nipsey Hussle and Ballin' by Mustard both of which have earned a Grammy nomination.
Going on Tour
Roddy Ricch is setting out on tour to support his debut studio album, 'Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.' He is scheduled to begin the tour by performing his first concert at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood on December 28, 2019. From there, he will go on to make his stop in cities like Indianapolis, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas and Austin before wrapping up the road trip on March 21, 2020.
