Ex-Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee resurfaces with his own band called Red Dragon Cartel. In order to recruit band members, Jake ran a massive marketing drive through social media. He went through thousands of applications before he found the perfect combination of musicians that suit the personality of his band. He recruited Darren James Smith - an English born vocalist and Jonas Fairley- a Vancouver based drummer/vocalist. The band is coming to showcase their musical compositions at the Marquee Theatre in Arizona. So purchase Red Dragon Cartel tickets and visit the venue to watch the band live in concert.
USA native, Jakey Lou Williams was born in 1957 and is popularly known as Jake E. Lee. Jake belonged to a musically inspired family; his father was fond of jazz music whereas his mother was a classical music lover and his elder sister was a pop music enthusiast. Growing up in San Diego, Jake was greatly encouraged by his mother to take up piano classes. However, soon Jake realized that he enjoyed playing his sister's guitar more than the piano. His older sister introduced him to classic hard rock acts like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath, and the aspiring musician started listening to their records.
The self taught guitarist utilized his formal learning from the piano classes and combined them with instructions from the Mel Bay guitar method book. This unique amalgamation enabled him to groom himself as a professional and work his way up to the next level. The talented artist soon developed the skill set for the guitar and started playing in numerous high school bands. With his impressive playing, the teenage prodigy wowed his fellow San Diego musicians.
Lee is mostly known for his work with the Ozzy Osbourne Band, with whom he played with during the mid eighties. Lee first joined the band for the Speak of the Devil live album tour along with bassist Don Costa and drummer Tommy Aldridge. He later worked on the band's album Bark at the Moon with Osbourne. The album spawned hit songs such as "Bark at the Moon" and "So Tired" and sold three million copies in the United States. During this time, Lee also played as a member of Badlands with the American rock singer-songwriter Ray Gillen.
After leaving Osbourne, Lee went on to establish the Red Dragon Cartel, which recently released its debut album in Jan 2014. On its release, the album charted at sixty nine on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The new album, titled Red Dragon Cartel, was produced by R. Bernard Mann and was cut at the Hideout Studio. Kevin Churko executively produced, mixed and mastered the album. The album features contributions by guest artists such as former Iron Maiden Vocalist Paul Di'Anno, vocalist Robin Zander from Cheap Trick, former Pantera bassist Rex Brown and Slash's Conspirator's, Todd Kearns and Brent Fitz. It also features chart topping artists such as Scott Reeder former member of Kyuss, In this Moment's Maria Brink and Jeremy Spencer from Five Finger Death Punches.
Deb Rao describes Red Dragon Cartel's songs, members and performances in his article in Hardrockhaven.net. He writes that the new song "Deceived" is an attention grabbing song and keeps the audience hooked the whole time. Featuring a fresh, hard-edged sound, the songs "Shout It Out" and "Rock 'N' Roll Rebel" make quite an impression. Darren James Smith, the lead singer of the band seems to have good command over the new material. As far as Jake is concerned, he is an artist who puts his heart and soul into the set.
