Ice hockey team Adirondack Phantoms, first started playing in the 2009-10 season of the AHL, and are known to play their home games at Glens Falls Civic Center. The team participates in the AHL from the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference. Based in Glen Falls, NYC, they are AHL affiliates of the Philadelphia Flyers from NHL, as well as Trenton Titans of the ECHL.
 
The team was previously known as Philadelphia Phantoms since they were residents of Philadelphia between 1996 and 2009. However, upon the transfer of ownership they were moved to New York, where they took their current name. Starting in the season of 2014-15, the team will be relocated to Allentown, Pennsylvania, where they will be playing in an entirely new arena with a seating capacity of eight thousand five hundred. The team will soon be name Lehigh Valley Phantoms, while their accent color will be replaced by electric blue instead of purple. At present, the Phantoms' Head Coach is Terry Murray, with Captain Ben Holmstrom, General Manager Paul Holmgren and owner Brooks Group. Their previous captains include the likes of Dan Jancevski from 2010 to 2011 and Jared Ross from 2009 to 2010. Adirondack Phantoms tickets are now the sought-after treat among AHL ice hockey fans.
 
In 2008 an announcement was made by Comcast Spectator, saying that Wachovia Spectrum which was home to the Phantoms since 1996 was going to be demolished. By February 2009, Spectator made an agreement to sell the team to Brooks Group of Pittsburgh, so that they soon became AHL's second team to be located in Glenn Falls. The long term planning was to eventually relocated the Adirondack Phantoms to the Lehigh Valley area in Allentown, when the hundred and fifty-five million dollars arena is complete. The Glenn Falls Civic Center has been home to Adirondack Red Wings between 1979 and 1999. In April, 2009, the AHL Board of Governors announced the approval given to the Brooks Group to move the team officially to Glenn Falls. By December that year, the Phantoms came back to Philadelphia for a home game in which they lost in overtime to Norfolk Admirals at what is now called the Wells Fargo Center. The team played there yet again in early 2011 opposite to Wikes Barre/Scranton Penguins in the same arena where they finally won.
 
Adirondack Phantoms were scheduled to come back to Philadelphia again in early 2012, to participate in the third yearly AHL Outdoor Classic. Only four days earlier, they hosted the famous Hersheys Bears at the Citizens Back Park, after the ballpark hosted the New York Yankees and Flyers in NHL Winter Classics. This marked the third outdoor AHL game, which was actually the first that the Phantoms were made a part of. The event was also noted for being the first time AHL's outdoor game was included in the many festivities of Winter Classics. By March 2011, it was announced that a new arena was to be constructed in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a seating capacity of eight thousand five hundred. The arena is to be built in downtown Allentown where it is to take up the whole block between Linden St. and Hamilton Blvd. and the 7th and 8th St.  
 
Adirondack Phantoms' Hall of Famers include Bill Barber who was head coach from 1996 to 2000; players Frank Bialowas, John Stevens, Peter White and Neil Little; general manager Bob Clarke, and chief operating officer Frank Miceli.
