Paulina Rubio Dosamantes is a Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated Mexican singer and actress.

Biography
Rubio was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico on June 17, 1971. She was the daughter of Mexican actress Susana Dosamantes.Her music made her popular in Latin America, Spain, and the United States. She is recognized among her English speaking fans from her 2002 hit single Don't Say Goodbye. Paulina Rubio has been successful in selling over 16 million albums worldwide.

Paulina Rubio's latest album Ananda was released on September 19th, 2006 in th U.S. and on the 18th worldwide. This remarkable album met with a huge success. It reached the #1 spot on many charts in countries all over Latin America, the U.S., and Spain. It reached #25 on U.S. Billboard's "Billboard Hot 200" albums chart, and on Billboards "Top Latin Albums.", it reached the #1 spot.Rubio's another outstanding and popular work is Ni Una Sola Palabra. It has successfully reached the #1 spot on radio in many Latin American countries, as well as the U.S. and Spain. It reached #1 on U.S. Billboard's "Hot Latin Tracks." Paulina Rubio's last three Spanish language albums have proved to be superhits. These have all consecutively peaked at the #1 spot on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums" chart.She married Spanish public relations executive Nicolas Vallejo Najera "Colate" on April 30, 2007.

Pre-solo career
Paulina Rubio is the older of two siblings. Enrique is her younger brother. Paulina was taking singing, acting, jazz, painting, and dance lessons when she was just 5 years old. She was enrolled in the Mexican school which is now called the Centro de Educaci?n Art?stica (CEA). She learnt there for two years. Paulina's parents were approached by Pedro Dami?n and Martha Zavaleta for their approval in Paulina joining a band that would be formed by children from the center.

Under the guidance of Miguel Bos? and debuting in a children's pop group called Timbiriche, Paulina was successful in starting her career on April 30, 1982. She was just ten years old at that time.The original band had 7 members: Alix Bauer, Benny Ibarra, Diego Schoening, Mariana Garza, Paulina Rubio, Sasha S?kol, and Erick Rubin (who joined a year later).

A total of 11 albums as part of Timbiriche were recorded by Rubio. Timbiriche participated in the musical Vaselina (Spanish adaptation of the American musical Grease) in 1985. Rubia also had a flair of acting. She availed the opportunity of acting in telenovelas with Televisa. She got her first role as the villain Paulina Montenegro in Pasi?n y Poder (Passion and Power) in 1988. She also starred in Baila Conmigo as Andrea in 1992. It was one of the biggest telenovelas of that year. Two soundtracks, Baila Conmigo and Recuerdos de Baila Conmigo, were released.

EMI: The Golden Years
Rubio focused on launching a solo career. Therefore, She left Timbiriche in 1991. She traveled to Spain to begin work on her first project as a solo artist. She was successful in releasing her solo debut album, La Chica Dorada (The Golden Girl) in 1992. Rubio's debut album was released under the EMI Latin record label. Paulina is popularly known as "la chica dorada" or "the golden girl" in Latin America to this day due to the album's title.

The album's first single "M?o" (Mine) quickly became very much popular. It is also one of her trademark songs. La Chica Dorada was a mega hit. It was certified Diamond in 1997. Rubio was presented with an award during her promotion of Planeta Paulina on Veronica Castro's extinct music show, La Tocada. The album "La Chica Dorada" has a record sale of more than 1.2 million copies worldwide after many reissues in countries like Mexico, USA, and Spain.

24 Kilates (24 Karats) was released by Rubio in 1993. It proved to be an immediate hit. More than 150,000 copies were sold out in just three weeks after its release. El Tiempo Es Oro (Time Is Gold) was released in 1995. The hit Te Dar?a Mi Vida (I Would Die For You) and the theme song to the 1994 Mexican film B?same En La Boca (Kiss Me), which starred Paulina Rubio was included in this remarkable album.

Her last album with the EMI Latin record label was Planeta Paulina which was released in 1996. The hit single Enamorada (In Love) was included in this album. Rubio also recorded English versions of the songs appearing in the album. Rubio took the longest retirement of her career after Planeta Paulina.
