Out of This World
First aired in the U.S. syndication on September 17, 1987, and in the UK in May 1990, Out Of This World is a Children's television comedy series.

The story revolves around a teenage girl, Evie Ethel Garland, living in Marlowe, California, who happens to be half alien. Hence she has supernatural powers, which her father can give and take away at will. It started on her thirteenth birthday, when Evie discovered that her father was an alien, Troy, and not the secret agent that her mother had told her he was. Most of the episodes revolve around Evie misusing her powers and causing some trouble, and the rest of the show trying to fix them.

Directed by Scott Baio, who appeared in the Princess Evie episode, the cast of Out Of This World includes Evie's mother Donna, her human uncle Beano Froehlich, her surfer boyfriend Chris Fuller, and ex-actor turned mayor Kyle Applegate. The character Chris Fuller is played by Steve Burton. Burton had a role in the Sci-Fi miniseries, Taken, which revolved around a young girl whose great-grandfather was an alien. The girl has some powers similar to Evie's, such as the ability to stop time. Troy never physically appears on the show except in the final episode as a shimmering outline of light. Only his voice is heard for most of the series. Fine Young Cannibals, the English band also featured on one of the episodes of the show, whereas in 1991, pop singer Tiffany also made a guest appearance on the I Want My Evie TV episode. The theme song of the show is an adapted version of Bing Crosby's Swinging on a Star, a number one hit on the Billboard magazine music charts, in the summer of 1944.

The show's opening uses a few elements from the 1970s version of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The two ships flying by at the start of the introduction, were two Earth Star fighters, which Buck and his partner, Wilma Deering, were famous for flying. The alien city on Antarias was really a shot of a city on Earth. One of the buildings was Defense Directorate headquarters, where Buck and Wilma got their assignments from Dr. Huer, and another building was, presumably, Buck's apartment. The masters of Antarias, however, wore robes similar to the Time Lords from Doctor Who.

The opening sequence shows Evie opening a door and knocking an open can of paint off a ladder, and then joining her fingers to stop it mid-fall. This shows that by joining two fingers together, she can freeze individuals as well as time for earthlings, whereas it goes on for her and her father. To resume time, and unfreeze it, a clasping together of hands is required. She can also gleep which means that she can control objects through her mind. There are, however, some drawbacks to this power; the inability to create complicated machinery and overuse of this ability to stop other abilities from functioning. She can also teleport herself instantly from one place to the other.

In an episode that centers on Evie's 16th birthday, her father gives her the choice between several new powers as a gift (such as looking into someone's eyes and telling them to do something while thinking the word 'obey', and they would obey). Each one proves to be such a burden on her that she ultimately chooses the power to tie your shoelaces perfectly on the first try every time.

Problems occurred in the second season of the series for example, Buzz Belmondo and Joe Alaskey's intolerance of each other went to the point where the two would not film scenes together. Any scene, in which both of them appear in the same frame, from the second season on, was filmed using trick photography. Also, actress Donna Pescow became pregnant during this season. Since it couldn't be explained how her character became pregnant while her husband was away fighting a war, Pescow was filmed using only close-up shots or staged so something was hiding her pregnancy.
