North Carolina Central Eagles is the name given to college sports teams that play for the North Carolina Central University. The Eagles is based in Durham, North Carolina. Their NCAA Division is 1 and they are a part of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. A total of fourteen varsity teams participate in a variety of sports such as cross country, basketball, football, bowling, track & field, tennis and golf. Maroon and grey are the team's colors. The side shares rivalry with universities including the Duke University, Winston-Salem State and North Carolina A&T State University. Eagles' basketball team won the NCAA Division 11 Regional Championships in 1989 and 1993. The side plays its home football games at the O'Kelly Riddick Stadium while baseball is played at the McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium and baseball at the Athletic Park.
