From Bristol, England comes one of the most iconic trip hop groups in history, Massive Attack. Founded in 1988, the group has been active in international music for a good time now and is considered as one of the most iconic acts in hip hop music today. Their music has been released by Virgin and EMI Records, with the group is associated with artists like Terry Callier, Shara Nelson, Neneh Cherry, Neil Davidge, The Wild Bunch, Burial and Peeping Tom. The duo comprises Robert '3D' Del Naja and Grant 'Daddy G' Marshall. Former members of the group include Andy 'Mushroom' Vowler and Adrian Thaws. Catch them live in concert by getting Massive Attack tickets now.

Since its debut in the late eighties, Massive Attack has gone on to become a globally recognized name. Their songs have been ranked by NME on their Greatest Songs of All Time list. The duo has spawned two number one albums on the UK Charts; Mezzanine released in 1998 and 100th Window, released in 2003. Both albums are also on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, by Rolling Stone magazine.

Massive Attack has also earned numerous awards during their career, including two Q Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards and the Brit Award for the Best British Dance Act. Their five studio albums have sold more than eleven million copies worldwide.

Massive Attack began when rapper Robert Del Naja, DJ Daddy G and DJ Andrew Vowles met as members of The Wild Bunch, a partying collective. The group dominated the club scene in Bristol during the mid-eighties and in 1988 the trio founded Massive Attack as a spin off.

Their first song was released soon after. Titled Any love, it featured Carlton McCarthy's vocals. They were then signed onto Circa Records, with Neneh Cherry's backing, in 1990. They then joined Virgin when it acquired Circa and then EMI, when it acquired Virgin. Their first studio album, Blue Lines, was released in 1991. It was recorded with financial support from Neneh Cherry and her husband, Cameron McVey.

Their music became famous in the UK and the group created a signature sound of its own, which married hip hop, reggae and soul.  By this time, they had also worked on music for other artists, with Robert Del Naja writing the song Manchild for Neneh Cherry. The song would go on to rank fifth on the UK Singles chart.

In 1994, they released the album Protection, featuring vocals by Tracey Thorn of Everything but the Girl fame. The album earned them the Best Dance Act award at the Brit Awards ceremony.

In 1995, they founded a label that was distributed by Virgin/EMI and to which artists such as Alpha, Craig Armstrong, Horace Andy, Day One and Sunna were signed. During this time, they also recorded a song for the soundtracks of Batman Forever and The Jackal.

In 1997, they released their most successful album to date, Mezzanine. Over four million copies of the album were sold and led to Angelo Bruschini joining the group as the lead guitarist. The album also won a Q Award in the Best Album category.

In 2013, the group announced a reunion with Tricky, with whom they recorded their first two albums. They also played in Reykjavik's Secret Solstice festival in 2014. Their latest two albums are 2003's 100th Window and 2010's Heligoland. The seven-time Brit Award nominated trip hop group can be seen live with Massive Attack tickets.
