Entertainment scene spills over in the USA with ice-hockey where energetic players try to prove that there is more to this sport than just skating. The sport seems a bit violent but it involves a lot of aesthetic vigor and balancing act. Over the years, the game has entered a dimension where new rules and regulations govern the ice-rink. The Manchester Monarchs is an ice-hockey team which has contributed its best to the game since its inception.

Formed in June 2000, the Manchester Monarchs got instituted as a consequence of the American Hockey League franchise being acquired by the Los Angeles Kings from the Manchester Hockey Group LLC. The latter had been in the process of transferring a dormant franchise to the Queen City. Jeff Eisenberg was the first employee to be hired by the Kings in just three months. Before joining the Monarchs, Eisenberg held the same position with American Hockey League's Portland Pirates. He set up an office on Elm Street with a small staff in 2 months time. The Monarchs are what they are because of the setting up of the offices and purchase of team that instigated a timely chain of events.

A highlight of the Manchester Monarchs is the lion head logo that was created in November 2000. As a charity measure, the team established the Monarchs Care Foundation in April 2001. Being very progressive, the Monarchs hired Bruce Boudreau as the first head coach in May 2001. The Manchester Monarchs introduced Max, the fun-loving lion to the New Hampshire community who has his heart on his sleeve and supplies the audience with laughs. Fans simply love the presence of Max both at Verizon Wireless Arena and around the state.

The first player in franchise history was engaged in September 2001 while the team's first captain Dane Jackson was also appointed. Assistant Coach Bobby Jay started lending his expertise to the team on September 19, 2009. His entry was tagged by the inauguration of a training camp in Hooksett at Tri-Town Ice Arena just three days later. The first team which the Manchester Monarchs competed against was Lowell Lock Monsters. It was a preseason game being scheduled on September 29, 2001 with JFK Coliseum in Manchester. The early period of the Monarchs went very smooth. The first thirteen games were played of the 2001-02 season on the road with the Verizon Wireless Arena still being under construction. The Monarchs lost the game to Lowell with a 6-3 loss on October 5, 2001. Their extended road trip ended with a record of 3-8-2. They returned just in time after that to play their first game for the locals.

The Manchester Monarchs became the heroes when they played for the first time in Manchester on November 16, 2001 deserving their first win in franchise history at the home ground. It was the Lowell Lock Monsters that got defeated by them with a 3-1 loss in a game in which the first goal was scored by defenseman Joe Corvo while the goaltender Travis Scott impressed the fans with 27 saves. After this game, the Monarchs have played several games supplementing the audience with the right amount of speedy skating action on the Verizon Wireless Arena for the Los Angeles Kings and the National Hockey League. So far, three coaches have led the team while three others have supervised the team from the bench.

The Manchester Monarchs made their longest playoff run in 2007 owing to their progress to the Calder Cup playoffs over the last seven seasons. They have been immensely popular with the crowd due to their streak of vigor. Each game season played by the Monarchs has seen an average of 8,500 fans cheering them on. It is no surprise that for the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons, Manchester topped the list in attendance not only concerning American Hockey League but also headed the more than 90 other North American minor pro hockey teams on record. The 2008-09 season has been momentous for The Manchester Monarchs yet still leaves much to crave for. For the first time in franchise history, the team managed to finish in fifth position with an amazing 5 points out of the playoffs.

The Monarchs Care Foundation actively works in charity measures. It has distributed an immense amount of $1,400,000 in merchandise, cash and tickets amongst the community. The foundation has benefited numerous area organizations. Some of these names include Big Brother Big Sisters Manchester, Catholic Medical Center, Toys for Tots, New Hampshire Legends of Hockey, Heritage United Way, Child Health Services and Special Olympics of New Hampshire.
