George Winston is an American musician best known as a pianist. He plays contemporary instrumental music and also plays other instruments aside from the piano including the solo harmonica and the solo acoustic guitar. He has been active in the music industry since 1972 and has been signed onto record labels such as Dancing Cat Records, Takoma Records and Windham Hill Records. He originates from the state of Michigan in the US and grew up in MilesCity within the state of Montana. When it comes to the piano, this is an American famous for his live shows; it is no surprise that for live piano performances, George Winston tickets numbers sold are some of the largest. He has also lived in several other US states including Florida, Mississippi and California, where he lives today in the city of Santa Cruz.

George Winston studied at the StetsonUniversity located in Deland within the state of Florida. After this, he started off his career when he first recorded and released the album Ballads and Blues through Takoma Records, a record label owned by John Fahey. He then went on to record music for William Ackerman for his record label, Windham Hill Records, in 1979 and began playing guitar pieces as well as piano music. He then released the album Autumn which was produced by William Ackerman and it became the Best Selling Album of the records label. This was followed by the albums Winter Into Spring and December. Both these albums went on to sell over a million copies each and were subsequently certified platinum in the US. But that was just start; from then on, George Winston went on to released seven more solo albums and has today established himself as one of the best, if not the best, in the contemporary instrumental genre of music.

George Winston developed a fondness for contemporary instrumental at a very young age. It all happened when he saw A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1965 and then went to buy the soundtrack of this Peanuts special. From then on, he would wait for each Peanuts special just so as to listen to the latest music by Guaraldi. In fact, he paid tribute to the artist when he released the album Linus and Lucy - The Music of Vince Guaraldi which was based on the artist's music for the Peanuts cartoons. In 2002, he released the album Night Divides the Day - The Music of The Doors which was music by the famous sixties band, The Doors, turned into marvelous piano solos. The name of the album itself is based upon one of the many successful albums by The Doors.

He has been reviewed and praised in the media a lot. The Boston Globes reviews George Winston's performances as 'mood setting and tranquilizing' with such performances engaging the audience, each of whom have come to see him live with George Winston tickets in hand. He has appeared on many shows including the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour and it was at this show that he described his guitar playing method which was inspired by blues guitar players. Although he is renowned today as a pianist, he first began playing the organ in 1971 after listening to music by The Doors. He then began playing the piano in 1971 after hearing some of the great pianists who were famous in the twenties and thirties. His style of playing the piano is often dubbed as folk piano and he has recently begun playing a new New Orleans R&B piano style influenced by the music of James Booker and Professor Longhair.

To date, George Winston has released fifteen albums out which several are platinum certified. His first album is 1972's Ballads and Blues and his latest album is Love Will Come - The Music of Vince Guaraldi, Volume 2 released in 2010. He has also been behind five soundtracks with the first being The Velveteen Rabbit in 1984 and the latest being 2003's Bread Comes to Life; to hear wonderful contemporary instrumental music live from an artist who has sold millions, all one needs are George Winston tickets and that's it.
