Where Celtic music has the power to create a profound effect on the listener, such as the recognizable Enya numbers, it is not usually considered to arouse elation and merriment. Yet the band Gaelic Storm has been doing just that with their feel-good Irish and Scottish traditional music since the mid-nineties.

After a playing a string of gigs at O'Brien's Tavern in Santa Monica during 1995, the quartet of Patrick Murphy, Steve Wehmeyer, Twigger and Uillean pipe playing Brian Walsh found their bearings as the Celtic party band in the ship's steerage aboard James Cameron's Titanic. This iconic gig unleashed Gaelic Storm that has not come to pass ever since.

Ejecting some album releases in the 1990s such as a self-titled debut album, Herding Cats and Tree, Gaelic Storm's quest for How Are We Getting Home? concluded in the album peaking at number 3 on Billboard's World Music Charts in 2004 and then found its way back again the following year at the third spot on the World Albums Chart. Gaelic Storm's 2008 studio album What's The Rumpus? upped the ante by shooting to the top the World Music Chart.

With their energy enthusing raucous music causing a major stir amongst Celtic music lovers, Gaelic Storm charted their successive performances across the United States and the European expanse. Wehmeyer's doctorate in folklore and mythology from UCLA served as a major boon for the band's artistic direction and served to further refine their distinct identity.
