The Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is famous for its fast pace rodeo action. Visitors can see more rodeo action in one day than they have ever thought of in their wildest imaginations -- over 40 bucking bulls and over 70 saddle and bareback broncos in each performance with nine rodeos daily.

Cheyenne Frontier Days, advocating to be the largest outdoor rodeo and western celebration in the world, are being held annually in Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA ever since 1897. The celebrations span 10 days and center on the last full week in July.

The event draws an estimated 300,000 people to the area every year. The event features daily rodeo shows, carnivals, parades, an Indian Campground, an Old West Museum and concerts by today"s biggest stars.

Lodging fills up quickly during the peak tourist season throughout southern and eastern Wyoming and even extends into Colorado and Nebraska.

Cheyenne Frontier Days celebrations trace their roots to the frontier west of United States. It attempts to capture the essence of the true cowboy style and colors of the west in the early nineteenth century. Cowboys roamed the prairie and often returned to their ranches months later on horseback sometimes partaking in friendly bucking-horse competitions with their mates.

On September 23, 1897, this impromptu cowboy spirit and style was captured in the form of ten-day celebrations that came to be known as the Cheyenne Frontier Days. The tagline "The Daddy of "em All" was born and bred in 1919 when Cheyenne gained worldwide recognition for having the biggest and best rodeo in the West. It is still the most apt description of Cheyenne Frontier Days nine PRCA Rodeos.

What began as a simple one-day celebration in September of 1897 has been nurtured over the years and has transformed into a ten-day festival that includes parades, pancake breakfasts, world-class concerts, chili and chuck wagon cook offs, carnival, exhibits, Indian Village, military open houses and performances by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and, of course the event that started it all?nine Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeos.

Originally, a group of volunteers from the Cheyenne business community came up with the idea of celebrating the Western culture and making money out of it. Today, more than 2,500 volunteers work 24 hours a day and seven days a week to produce an event that stretches two weeks in length.

People from all walks and facets of life - chief executive officers of large companies, bank presidents, school teachers, realtors, homemakers, state and federal employees - volunteer to organize the arguably largest western celebrations of the world.

Cheyenne Frontier Days features everything characteristic of a typical fair; a midway with rides, games, and food vendors, concerts, wild west shows, an Indian village, and the largest rodeo in the world, known fondly as 'The Daddy of em All'. The event also features a free pancake breakfast.

The 5,000 pounds of pancake batter are mixed in cement trucks. The event is in its 110th year. The rodeo - the main attraction of the show - draws thousands of people from different parts of the United States, with the majority of the people at Cheyenne Frontier Days still being locals and ranchers. The weather is the usual bright sunshine weather with the temperature approaching the nineties - typical of the desert.

Another annual event that is a must see at the Cheyenne Frontier Days is the United States Air Force Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squadron air show that celebrates the long-lasting relationships of themselves and the carnival.

The Thunderbirds' main aerobatic display is performed over the campus at the Laramie County Community College while the ground act, the static displays and flying of other aircraft takes place on the United States Air National Guard side of the Cheyenne Regional Airport.

The carnival at Cheyenne Frontier Days spells out joy and fun for those who attend. Safety and security are accounted for in the form of the many medical stations posted throughout the park and the law enforcement agencies.
