Eddie Money
Eddie Money - born Edward Joseph Mahoney, March 2, 1949, was an American rock musician and singer who was famous back in the 70s and 80s giving Top 40 hits and platinum albums.

Money attended the New York Police Academy in the early 70s to become a New York police officer. After working briefly at the NYPD, he soon hit the road that lead to his fate - singing. He moved first to Los Angeles, then to San Francisco where he joined with guitarist Jimmy Lyon to form the backbone of the distinctive Money sound. By 1976, he signed to CBS Records with the late Bill Graham.

Eddie Money released his first album, the eponymous Eddie Money, in 1977, which reached #37 on the charts, and contained two of his most memorable hits; Baby Hold On and Two Tickets to Paradise. Both songs entered the top 40. Followed up with his second album, Life for the Taking (1978), featuring more of a pop/disco sound in coherence with the trends of the late 1970s. The album charted higher at #17, but neither of its two singles; Can't Keep a Good Man Down and Maybe I'm a Fool entered the top 20.

In 1980, Money released his third album, Playing for Keeps, which reached #35 in the United States and yielded no Top 40 singles. In 1983, he released No Control, which included the hits Shakin' and Think I'm In Love. The album hit #20 in the United States. Jimmy Lyon left Money after No Control.

Money released Where's the Party in 1985, which became his lowest charting album to date at #67. A second comeback for Money came in the form of the later platinum Can't Hold Back in 1986, which featured the single Take Me Home Tonight, co-sung with Ronnie Spector that reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the late 80s, the single Walk on Water, from his 1988 album Nothing to Lose, featured a guest appearance from Lyon on lead guitar.

Eddie still performs an average of sixty shows a year and has appeared on television shows such as The King of Queens as himself and The Drew Carey Show as Mimi's ex-husband. Currently residing in California and Florida, he is very active in his involvement with the St. Jude's Hospital. He recently has appeared in concert around the Daytona Beach area and at a number of smaller venues, appearing with local musicians, including local rock legend guitarist Fred Felon. Eddie has now released his first studio album since 1999 (Wanna Go Back).

Two Tickets to Paradise was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the Classic Rock station K-DST. Baby Hold On was later featured on Emotion 98.3 on the PSP game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, also played at the end of a Saturday Night Live sketch on the season 21 episode hosted by Steve Forbes, also featured briefly in an episode of The Simpsons, and got featured in the film Operation Situation: Code Name Kill.

He has four sons and one daughter. All five of the kids in the family (Jesse and her 4 brothers) are musicians of some sort.

WANNA GO BACK hits stores on March 13, 2007. The album is tribute to the 60's rock of - music that the 15 year old Eddie Mahoney and his band, The Grapes Of Wrath, played in their live sets. Good Lovin, and Build Me Up Buttercup, are just two of the many feel-good tracks on the album. The album was produced by Randy Forrester, Eddie's keyboard player, and released through his company, BIG DEAL PRODUCTIONS, Inc. and WARRIOR RECORDS, to be distributed by UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP DISTRIBUTION. Forrester has been a part of the Eddie Money clan since Money admittedly stole him from blues guitar legend Elvin Bishop's band in the mid 90s to play keyboards for his band. The close knit touring group is rounded out by longtime guitarist, Tommy Girvin, bassist Lee Beverly and drummer Chris Frazier.

Three of the tracks, Mockingbird, Hold On I'm Comin and Ain't No Mountain High Enough, feature the legend, daughter herself, Jesse Money's debut recordings. She is also a big part of Eddie's live show adding her youth and enthusiasm on stage to some of his most popular songs, including the Ronnie Spector part in Take Me Home Tonight and the Jo Baker part in Baby Hold On To Me, where Eddie makes a heartfelt tribute to his friend Baker, who passed away in 1996.
