Danny Brown had flair for rapping ever since he was a kid. He used rhyming in his day to day conversations, and had a knack for rhyming at a very young age. As Brown's rhyming skills and talents as a hip hop musician were further polished, he attracted the attention of Travis Cummings of Roc-A-Fella Records. After trying his luck with Roc-A-Fella, Brown made his way back to his hometown from New York, where he met up with producer Nick Speed.

He later linked up with Tony Yayo from the G-Unit and made a collaborative effort with him called Hawaiian Snow released in 2010. With that association, speculations were made that Brown would eventually sign up with G-Unit records, but due to his appearance that didn't go with G-Unit's image, this never happened. Hence after releasing a couple of mixtapes, Brown finally came up with his first full length album called The Hybrid which was released independently on Rappers I Know. Also in the same year, he signed a record deal with Fool's Gold, an independent record label in Brooklyn.

Following his move to Fool's Gold Record, Brown made his most critically and commercially successful move with the release of his second full length album called XXX. The album garnered critical appreciation from many critics including Pitchfork that gave it 8.2 out of 10. Passion of the Weiss also named it the 6^th best album of the year 2011. In 2012, Brown was also featured at the Top Ten Freshmen on the cover of XXL. In the same year, it was also announced the he will also be performing at the 13^th Gathering of the Juggalos.

By far, he has released a total of two studio albums with his upcoming album Old still in the pipeline. The album is expected to be released somewhere in October 2013 on Fool's Gold records. Unlike all of his previous albums, Old will be released at retail stores.
